Thank you, environmental educators!

By Harper Huntington, Education Coordinator
Friday, June 5th marked the final Students for Salmon field trip of the 2025-2026 school year. As the season comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to express gratitude to the amazing team of environmental education interns who worked with us this spring to support outdoor field trips. Here are some of their highlights from the internship!
Teacher Mac: “Whatcom County has so much diversity and I enjoyed getting to explore all corners of the county and seeing so many teachers, classrooms and students. I have learned so much from the kids and there is still so much to explore.”
Teacher Johann: “I enjoy hearing kids say they had fun on a field trip, especially when they say something specific. It’s really important that they are getting involved in conservation from an early age because that’s so important for future generations.”
Teacher Giselle: “I really enjoyed seeing the kids having those breakthrough moments and talking through the ecosystem connections that they were seeing in real time.”
Thank you so much to teachers Claire, Cathy, Giselle, Mac, and Johann for all your hard work this spring. We could not run our Students for Salmon program without such dedicated interns to facilitate these hands-on learning opportunities for fourth graders. We wish you the best of luck with whatever the future holds!
