Ways to Give

Stocks, Bonds & Securities

Donate appreciated stock, bonds, or securities directly to NSEA and avoid the capital gains taxes you would owe from selling first, so more of your gift goes to the work.

Why give stock

A tax-smart way to give.

Donating long-term appreciated stock can be a highly effective way to support NSEA. When you give stock that has grown in value, you avoid paying the capital gains taxes that would apply if you sold it first. By donating the stock directly to NSEA, you can deduct up to 30% of your adjusted gross income.

Make a bigger impact. When you give appreciated stock directly to charity as a Washington State resident, your gift can be up to 30.8% larger (about 23.8% larger for non-residents), because you avoid the taxes you would owe from selling first. That means more money going to the work you support.
